Emirates Skywards expands loyalty programme to include both Emirates airline and flydubai

Karachi / Dubai, August 03, 2018 – Emirates Skywards today replaced flydubai’s frequent flyer programme, OPEN, officially becoming the loyalty programme of Emirates airline and flydubai. The alignment of the loyalty programme now allows Emirates Skywards members to also earn Skywards Miles and Tier Miles when travelling on both airlines. Former OPEN members can enrol into Emirates Skywards to continue earning Miles on flydubai.

The alignment of the loyalty programme for both airlines builds on Emirates and flydubai’s close partnership which includes code-sharing on an extended global route network and several initiatives including commercial, network planning, and airport operations.

“We are pleased to announce the expansion of our loyalty programme to now include two airlines- Emirates airline and flydubai. The strategic move will bring even more benefits to our members giving them opportunities to earn and spend Miles on an extended global route network, as well as select privileges on both airlines,” said Dr Nejib Ben Khedher, Senior Vice President, Emirates Skywards.

From today, Emirates Skywards members will earn Skywards Miles and Tier Miles on all flydubai flights. Members can also spend Skywards Miles or a combination of cash and Miles to book flydubai flights*, as well as to pay for optional extras such as pre-ordered meals and extra legroom seats.
“We’re bringing together the customers of both airlines under one programme, rewarding their loyalty as they take advantage of the Emirates and flydubai partnership,” said Nahed Al Kheily, Vice President Ancillary Revenue.

Emirates Skywards members can use the flydubai Miles Calculator tool on Emirates website to check how many Miles they will earn for each fare type of their chosen flight.
When travelling on flydubai, Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members will be able to get select benefits regardless of their class of travel including extra baggage allowances and priority check-in at flydubai’s Business Class counters.

New Emirates Skywards members will also receive a first flight bonus when they take their first Emirates or flydubai flight within six months of joining.

The Emirates Skywards programme has been continually evolving to provide members greater opportunity to earn Miles and access rewards across its wide range of flights, travel and lifestyle partners. In the last three months, the programme launched ‘My Family’ to enhance pooling of Miles and gave members increased flexibility in managing their Miles by introducing reduced rates for buying, gifting and transferring of Skywards Miles. Emirates Skywards has also expanded its portfolio with strategic UAE partnerships including Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) to launch the Emirates Skywards DIB credit cards and with Emaar Malls to earn Skywards Miles on purchases made at The Dubai Mall.

Avanza and Premier establish Pakistan’s fastest and most reliable payment gateway, APPS

Avanza Premier Payment Services (APPS) is a joint venture of Avanza Group and Premier Systems

Karachi, 8th August, 2018: Avanza Group and Premier Systems signed an agreement to formally establish Avanza Premier Payment Services (APPS) Pakistan’s fastest and most reliable domestic online payment gateway. APPS will deploy an E-commerce & M-commerce payment gateway and merchant digitization service.

LG Labs to Drive Evolution of Advanced AI Technologies Across Multiple Touchpoints

Karachi / SEOUL, Aug. 9, 2018 – Global innovator LG Electronics Inc. (LG) is poised to define the future of artificial intelligence (AI) for consumers and businesses in the years ahead with the establishment of a major new AI research presence in North America in collaboration with leaders in academia and start-ups.

This week marks the launch of the new LG Electronics AI Research Lab in Canada, an extension of the newly expanded LG Silicon Valley AI Lab in Santa Clara, California. Supporting LG’s vision of AI as a key future growth engine, the North American labs further enhance LG’s global research capabilities, which include AI labs in South Korea, India and Russia.

In addition, LG is entering into a new research partnership with the University of Toronto, which is rec-ognized worldwide for its AI and machine learning expertise, particularly in the area of deep learning.

“AI will ultimately touch everybody’s lives, transforming the way we live, work and play,” said LG Elec-tronics President and Chief Technology Officer Dr. I.P. Park. “Early implementations of AI in connected devices today are setting the stage for tomorrow’s smart cities, smart homes, smart businesses and smart devices, all with capabilities that no one has even dreamed of yet.” He said the North American labs and LG’s research partnership with the University of Toronto will play a key role in developing source technologies defining that future.

Under its five-year, multi-million-dollar research partnership with the University of Toronto, LG will build on its Open Platform-Open Partnership-Open Connectivity strategy to expand the AI ecosystem. The new lab will capitalize on the expertise of researchers at the University of Toronto who will now have the opportunity to work collaboratively with LG’s growing U.S. and Canadian AI R&D teams. Com-plementing this work, LG intends to collaborate with and invest in North American start-ups.

University of Toronto President Meric Gertler views LG as an exciting new partner for AI research. “The University of Toronto looks forward to partnering with an innovative global company like LG as our re-searchers continue to advance the boundaries of artifi-cial intelligence. The presence of such leading, multi-national firms in our innovation ecosystem strengthens opportunities for our faculty, students and start-up companies across a whole range of disciplines.”

Echoing President Gertler’s views, Dr. Park said, “AI solutions based on deep learning will revolutionize how we interact with the world around us, in new seamless ways that use contextual data from things like biometrics, emotions, gestures and of course voice.” He went on to explain the three main pillars of LG’s AI strategy:

Emirates expands its network in Italy, signs codeshare agreement with Trenitalia

Karachi / DUBAI, AUGUST  10, 2018 – Emirates and Trenitalia, Italy’s national railway company, today announced a new codeshare agreement which will enable Emirates customers from across its worldwide network to discover new destinations across Italy.

With just one easy-to-book ticket, travellers will be able to fly on Emirates and reach some of Italy’s most picturesque cities and towns using high speed, modern and comfortable trains that leave from Emirates’ four Italian gateways – Bologna, Milan, Rome and Venice.

“This codeshare agreement with Trenitalia opens up new possibilities for our customers and complements our current services to Bologna, Milan, Rome and Venice. With Trenitalia, travelling to the Far East from Foggia, or to Padova from Sydney has never been easier,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, West.

“Emirates already flies more than 1.6 million passengers to and from Italy every year. With this codeshare agreement, we’re connecting Italian regions to our global network, significantly boosting the Italian tourism industry,” added Mr Frach.

“The agreement signed by Trenitalia and Emirates is a pivotal step towards the increase of effective and comfortable integration between train and airplane,” said Gianpiero Strisciuglio, Director of Trenitalia Long Haul Passenger Division. “Our customers will now be able to buy one single solution for their train and flight journey, departing and arriving from 27 Italian stations and enjoying the comforts and the best commercial facilities offered by Trenitalia and Emirates,” he added.

Customers can now start booking their codeshare trips via Emirates’ website and travel onwards to these destination and benefit from the convenience of holding a single ticket. First Class and Business Class passengers will automatically be booked in First Class on board Trenitalia’s trains.

Boarding

Emirates customers will be able to board Trenitalia trains directly without the need to exchange their boarding pass for a separate ticket. As with their flight, they will be assigned a seat number and car number which will be on their e-ticket.

Class of travel

Trenitalia tickets will be booked in the cabin class that matches the class of travel on the Emirates ticket. Depending on the type of train, these cabin classes on Trenitalia range from Executive, Business, Premium and Standard. Passengers travelling in Emirates First Class and Trenitalia Executive Class will also be able to access, where available, the lounges of each partner by presenting their boarding passes.

Baggage

Emirates’ baggage allowance will also apply for train journeys, as well as baggage dimension restrictions. Customers will need to collect their checked bags from the arrival hall at the airport and take them to the train station.

Emirates in Italy

Over the last 25 years, the links between Italy and Emirates have become stronger and stronger. With eight daily flights to four gateways: Bologna, Milan, Rome and Venice, Emirates has become an important contributor to Italian trade and tourism. The airline has also been a proud sponsor of AC Milan since 2010 as well as a main sponsor of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia tennis tournament.

Emirates revamps its premium offering in First and Business Class

Karachi /Dubai, Aug 27, 2018 – Emirates has refreshed its premium offering with new luxury products in First and Business Class for a more comfortable travel experience. The new products stem from collaborations with BYREDO skincare, Bowers & Wilkins and Emirates’ longstanding partnership with Bulgari for its refreshed amenity kits.

Emirates First Class customers will find the BYREDO travel wellness range of skincare in their private suites. The allergen-free and Chamomile collections were exclusively created for Emirates for a relaxing and hydrating experience inflight. The collection by European luxury brand, BYREDO, was first introduced in Emirates’ new fully enclosed suites on the Boeing 777 last year and is now being rolled out across the fleet.  All the products in the collection are manufactured using the best raw materials with a distinct focus on craft and quality.

These headphones were designed by award-winning audio brand Bowers & Wilkins and created exclusively for Emirates using a unique hybrid noise cancellation technology optimised for the Emirates First Class cabins.

The headphones are lightweight and made of the finest materials, including aluminium and sheepskin leather for a comfortable fit. Customers can use the headphones to view up to 3,500 channels of on-demand entertainment on a 32-inch TV screen. The entertainment selection on ice across all classes includes up to 950 movies, 400 TV channels and 2,400 music and podcast channels. Bulgari Amenity Kits

Emirates continues its longstanding partnership with Bulgari for the latest designs of the airline’s exclusive kit bags. The new set of amenity kits for both First and Business Class feature Bulgari’s fragrance – Eau Parfumée Au Thé Vert (Green Tea) – and contain skincare essentials to keep customers feeling fresh and pampered throughout the flight.

The First Class kit bags, made from faux leather, come in eight designs with a new range of colours for men and women. Eight additional designs are available in Business Class – four for men and four for women. The amenity kits are available on long-haul overnight flights and designs are refreshed every nine months. The bags have been designed for multipurpose uses after the flight to store headphones, make up or jewelry.

In addition to the Bulgari amenity kits, First Class customers will also be given Hydra Active moisturising sleep suits on long haul overnight flights.

On all Emirates flights, customers can enjoy a selection of the finest cuisine prepared by gourmet chefs, accompanied by some of the most exclusive wines, champagnes and spirits in the world. Emirates recently revamped its spirits offering across all classes to include exclusives like the Hennessy Paradis Imperial and introduced the Emirates Vintage Collection – a selection of fine wines which have been stored for up to 15 years. LG Continues With More Software Updates for Smartphones Across Entire Range

Another Wave of Previous and Current Generation LG Smartphones Gets OS and Features Updates for Latest and Most-Up-To-Date Mobile Experience

Emirates introduces new range of toys on board bringing back customer favourites

Karachi / Dubai, August 28, 2018 – Emirates has introduced new toys from the Emirates Fly with Me collection and Lonely Planet Kids activity kit bags for children travelling in all classes. The new range of toys will come in the top four favourite characters, as voted by customers and fans in a social media competition held last year.

Of the 17 characters Emirates introduced on board in the last three years, the top four characters chosen for the new products are Lewis the Lion, Peek U the Panda, Ernie the Penguin, and Savannah the Elephant. The new collection will be on board all flights and across all classes from this month.

Family experience on board

On short haul flights, the brand new product range includes a vibrating plush for infants up to 2 years old.  The cuddly companion can be re-used and attached to the stroller when baby and parents are on the move. Emirates has also introduced a new range to cater specially to children aged 3-6 years old. They will receive a travel case sketcher which includes puzzles, games and stickers to keep them busy on flight. On long haul flights, infants will be given a dual purpose plush toy with a printed activity blanket while older kids will receive a plush backpack with activity kits.

Emirates continues to offer its popular Fly with Me Lonely Planet Kids activity bags in brand new designs and colours to inspire older children to explore more of the world. Kids will receive retro, travel-themed bags filled with educational travel books and activities designed exclusively for Emirates. The bags contain amazing world facts, creative crafts, collectible destination socks and more. The Fly with Me Lonely Planet Kids range is offered to children aged between seven and 12 years old.

The Fly with Me magazine is also available on board featuring puzzles, jokes and activities for children aged three to eight years old.

Parents travelling with infants will receive an amenity kit especially for baby. The pouch features Emirates’ iconic Little Traveller characters and contains essentials such as a bib, spoon, baby wipes, changing mat, diaper rash cream and small diaper bag for a comfortable journey.

Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, offers up to 3,500 channels and more than 100 kids channels in 40 languages to keep the whole family entertained in flight.  This summer’s latest blockbusters include Avengers Infinity War, Isle of Dogs, Rampage and Tomb Raider. There are over 180 episodes of dedicated children’s content including hit family movies like Coco, Ferdinand and Peter Rabbit. Young travellers can enjoy the inflight entertainment using specially designed headphones with a comfortable fit and great sound quality.  New language videos from uTalk also give customers a chance to learn a few new words from the countries they are visiting.

Over 170 aircraft are equipped with Live TV featuring this summer’s sports tournaments as they happen and real time news updates. Wi-Fi is available on 99% of the Emirates fleet and customers across all cabins can enjoy 20mb of free data. Emirates Skywards members can enjoy unlimited free Wi-Fi or discounted data plans throughout their flight, depending upon their tier and the cabin that they are flying in.

Comfort on the ground

For a more convenient way to check-in, especially for families, groups and passengers with tight schedules, Emirates offers home-check in. The service allows customers to complete check-in from anywhere in Dubai – whether in the comfort of their home, hotel or office, and have their luggage transported to the airport prior to their flight. Customers can then make their own way to the airport and head directly to immigration, bypassing the check-in desks at the airport. The service costs AED 350 for up to 7 bags with an additional charge per bag after that.

On the ground, Emirates complements the family travel experience with dedicated family check-in desks and complimentary baby strollers at Dubai International Airport, as well as priority boarding in most airports. For passengers accessing Emirates lounges in Dubai, kids will be able to enjoy a dedicated play area with arcade quality games and Sony PlayStation terminals. The lounges also include baby care rooms for feeding.

In addition, all Emirates customers continue to enjoy complimentary Emperor ice cream during peak departure times every day this summer.  Emirates is serving the frozen treats until 31st August. The ice cream is hand made locally by Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) in five flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla, Date & Arabic Coffee, Mango Sorbet, and Lemon Sorbet. The Emperor branded ice-cream is also served to all First Class and Business Class customers in Emirates lounges in Dubai and on board certain flights.

Children aged between five and 15 who are flying alone or those under eight years old travelling in a different cabin class to their parents or guardian can use Emirates’ unaccompanied minor service to help them through the airport and on board.

Khaadi to donate annual 14th August proceeds towards building a better Pakistan

KARACHI  August 16, 2018: Khaadi, Pakistan’s premier fashion brand in an unprecedented gesture, has committed to donate its Independence Day proceeds to Pakistan.

The announcement was made at the company’s 14th August celebration “As long as Khaadi exists, 14th August sales will go back to Pakistan” “said Khaadi’s founder and CEO, Shamoon Sultan. “we have no right to the money earned on this day, it belongs to Pakistan.” he added.

Building on last year’s “#MeinBhiPakistanHoon” tagline which celebrated the spirit of inclusiveness, the brand focused this year’s Independence Day Campaign on giving back to Pakistan, changing the hashtag to #HumBhiPakistanHain. Customers had the the freedom to choose from 5 sectors crucial for national development, namely; water, health, education, sanitation, and environment through a poll.
